“Well, you missed out on some important protocol, Ella. You can’t stand between a Texan and his power tools. We like them. Big ones that drain the national grid. We also like truck-stop breakfasts, large moving objects, Monday night football, and the missionary position. We don’t drink light beer, drive Smart cars, or admit to knowing the names of more than about five or six colors. And we don’t wax our chests, ever.”
(Jack Travis)
I love this quote and love this book!!
I think this is Lisa Kleypas’s best contemporary series.
Tweeted.
Thank you, Ella. 🙂
Heh. Really enjoyed this quote. I love some of Lisa Kleypas’s historical romances but I haven’t read any of her contemporary romance novels yet. Where is the best place to start? 🙂
Camille, I loved the Travis Family series – Sugar Daddy, Blue Eyed Devil, Smooth Talking Stranger and there is another book, Brown-Eyed Girl, which is due to be published May 2nd 2015. I would definitely recommend that series.
I enjoyed the first three books of the Friday Harbor series – Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor, Rainshadow Road and Dream Lake but I didn’t like Crystal Cove. It seemed more like a paranormal book with romantic elements and it seems that’s an opinion shared by many of her fans.
That is actually the first Lisa Kleypas book I read. I then went back & read the rest of the series, and also decided to try her historical romance (Derek Craven!) Love the quote. Can’t wait for the new book next year!
Sharlene, this was my favourite book in the Travis Family series. I’m so pleased she’s writing Joe’s story.
